Our Staff Standards

Good Service Starts
With Good Preparation.

Suitable support begins with understanding the person and the assignment. We consider candidate information, relevant experience and your venue’s requirements before confirming a booking.

Discuss Your Requirements

01 / Candidate review

From registration
to a considered review.

Our application asks about preferred roles, declared experience, availability and eligibility information, with a CV upload. The agency reviews that information; it does not automatically approve a person for assignments.

Tell us the responsibilities that matter for your service. We consider relevant background against those requirements rather than treating every candidate as interchangeable.

  1. 01

    Candidate registration

Candidates provide contact details, preferred roles, declared experience and availability. Registration begins the review; it does not confirm a booking.

  2. 02

    Experience & suitability review

The agency considers the candidate’s background against the responsibilities and experience required for the proposed assignment.

02 / Hospitality knowledge

Knowledge supports
good preparation.

Staff Academy’s Waiter Essentials programme helps candidates develop or demonstrate relevant restaurant knowledge. It is a learning and knowledge assessment programme, rather than externally accredited certification.

Explore Staff Academy

Educational modules

Five lessons with restaurant standards and service scenarios.

Knowledge quizzes

Ten questions per module to check understanding before progressing.

Final knowledge assessment

A timed 50-question assessment. An actually completed record can inform agency review.

Practical experience

Background and practical performance are considered separately. An online result alone does not verify someone’s ability to work at your venue.

03 / Assignment suitability

The venue matters.
So does the brief.

Share the role, service style, expected tasks, hours, address and any specific experience or practical requirements. Relevant experience, eligibility and availability are considered for the proposed assignment.

The applicable rate and terms are agreed with the agency. A candidate’s registration or Academy record does not confirm current availability or a booking.

04 / Professional expectations

Prepared for the agreed service.

Punctuality

Arrive ready for the agreed start time and communicate any attendance problem to the agency.

Communication

Communicate professionally with guests, venue contacts and the agency. Raise booking changes and concerns through the agency.

Presentation

Discuss suitable clothing and any reasonable venue presentation requirements before confirmation.

Professional conduct

Work respectfully, observe applicable hygiene and safety requirements, and follow reasonable venue briefings within the agreed scope.

Requirements must be consistent with the agreed assignment and applicable terms. Reasonable venue briefings, food safety and emergency instructions do not change the contractual arrangements. Read the Restaurant Assignment Rules .

What our standards mean

Your questions,
answered.

Do all candidates have restaurant experience?

Experience varies. Candidates tell us about their background when registering, and the agency considers that information against the role and venue requirements. Tell us which tasks and experience are essential for your assignment.

How do you assess hospitality knowledge?

Waiter Essentials in Staff Academy has educational modules, module quizzes and a final knowledge assessment. Completed assessment records can inform agency review. These demonstrate knowledge; they do not independently verify practical performance or provide externally accredited certification.

Can we communicate specific requirements?

Yes. Share the service style, expected responsibilities, relevant experience, presentation requirements and safety information with the agency before confirmation. We consider these when reviewing suitability and agreeing the assignment.

Can we request someone who has worked at our venue before?

Yes. Tell the agency who you would like to return and which assignment they previously covered. We check availability and the requirements of the new assignment before confirming.

Is every registered candidate immediately available?

No. Registration records an interest in work. Availability, eligibility and suitability for a particular assignment are considered separately, and the assignment must be confirmed through the agency.

What happens if a candidate cannot attend?

Contact the agency with the assignment details. We discuss the available next steps and can check possible alternatives, subject to suitability and availability. Replacement cover is not guaranteed.
